Review: Fab Lab Festival Face Tattoos

Thursday, September 13, 2018

We went on a big family holiday to a lovely cottage in Pembrokeshire over the summer holidays. We weren't sure what the weather would be like whilst there but we were a short way from a lovely beach and made sure we took plenty of things to entertain the children. I decided to take along the Fab Lab Festival Face Tattoo set from Interplay. We were also celebrating Elsie's birthday while we were away and we thought it would be great fun to have a go at decorating all of their faces.

The face tattoos work just like any temporary tattoo sets. You simply cut out your chosen design, apply to the area you want to place it and add some water using a damp sponge or cloth. The difference with the face tattoo set compared to any other is the design of the tattoos. They are specially designed to fit nicely on the face. There were so many designs to choose from and each child chose one each for their face. Gracie chose a flower design which fit really nicely, though next time I will beware of wispy bits of hair underneath the tattoo. Hers started to peel in one area as it had stuck to a bit of hair. I have learned for next time!

Elsie chose a mermaid for her cheek, it looked like the mermaid was curling under her eye and she thought it was really cool! The boys did find it difficult to choose as they didn't want flowers or mermaids so ended up choosing a bird each, one glitter bird and one simple coloured bird. It would be really nice to see some more unisex designs in future especially more animal themed ones as the boys loved getting involved just as much as the girls did.

We were really impressed with this kit, It would be great for kids parties to entertain all of the children. I can see us using it really regularly. It also comes with a little oil pot to help remove the tattoos easily. I also found a spot of tea tree oil does the trick too! No more scrubbing the kids faces with a flannel to desperately remove temporary tattoos in time for school! I would also say the kit would be great for adults too! Going to a music festival and don't fancy queuing for hours to pay someone a fortune to decorate your face? The kit contains six sheets of colour tattoos and three sheets of glitter tattoos and retails at around £15.
