Tips For Healthy Hair At Home

Since I started bleaching my hair, I have been making an effort to take good care of my hair and help it stay in good condition. Of course being a Mum means I don't have the time or money to spend on expensive salon hair treatments. Instead I have some low cost ways you can help your hair from the comfort of your home.

Coconut Oil

I use coconut oil for most things. As a skin cream, on the children for any rashes or spots and I also regularly use it in my hair. There are different forms you can use. You can get coconut oil shampoos, conditioners, hair masks etc. I use a leave-in conditioner and spray my hair with it 4/5 times a week. It is great for keeping my hair hydrated and minimises damage.

Regular Brushing

This may sound obvious but sometimes when you are in a rush to get out of the house with the kids, you can get tempted to throw a bobble or clip in your hair or even pop a hat over it, with every intention of 'sorting it later'. If brushed regularly your hair is less likely to knot and break off.

Wash Sparingly

Every day washing is not good for your hair. This is good news for us Mum's who are lucky if we manage to grab a 5 minute shower to clean up each day. Washing every day washes away the oils and can either leave hair dry or force oil glands to go into overdrive leaving your hair looking greasier than ever.

Wash with cold water

Using cool water to wash your hair is less damaging. The hotter the water, the more likely to worsen any split ends or cause frizz. Your hair is much more likely to have bounce and shine too!
