Lunch Inspiration #Hartley'sYourLunchbox

Monday, August 29, 2016

I have two children that take packed lunches to school. One of them is a fussy eater and the other has dairy allergies, so I find I have peace of mind sending them to school with food I know they will eat. It can be a challenge making sure they don't get bored of the same foods so I am going to let you in on what is in our lunchboxes and how we keep the kids excited about a packed lunch.

Happy 2nd Birthday Elsie!

Saturday, August 27, 2016

Two years ago today you were born. It felt like we had waited far too long to meet you. You were much smaller than your brother and sister. I was so used to big babies and you were this little perfect bundle of newness. You didn't have the easiest of starts. I felt so helpless when you cried non-stop for those first few days. We concentrated so much on you getting better that you were simply known as 'Baby' for a whole 7 days before we finally settled on your name 'Elsie Luna'.

Review & Giveaway: Hedrin Protect & Go

Thursday, August 25, 2016

Any parent of school aged children will be filled with dread each and every time their child as much as scratches their head. I am dreading the day one of my kids come home with head lice, but there are ways you can help to prevent infestations. Hedrin sell a range of products for both treatment and protection. They have sent me some of their Protect & Go Spray and would like to give one away to one of our readers too.

Hedrin Protect & Go is a spray which, when applied twice a week, protects children from lice by breaking the life cycle and killing any lice which may come into contact before an infestation can be established. The conditioning spray has an orange and mango scent, it is easy to apply by simply spraying into towel dried or dry hair and combed through and it then dries naturally. It is ideal for peak times when the risk of infection is increased like the beginning of a new school term, children's parties and sleepovers!

It is so easy for young children to share lice as they are at the age where they have a lot of physical contact with friends. I have to say there has only been one outbreak in Gracie's class since she started school almost 2 years ago, I am sure it was much more common when I was a child and there were less people using preventive products.

I will be using this twice a week whilst Gracie is at school and fingers crossed her hair will remain lice free! Of course I can't tell you whether it works yet or not but I can confirm that it is easy to use and doesn't leave hair feeling greasy which is a win!

Priced from £4.29 for 120ml, Hedrin Protect & Go is available from Boots, pharmacies and leading retailers nationwide. It is skin friendly and contains no known asthma triggers.

For your chance to win a bottle of Hedrin Protect & Go, simply follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter form below.

Review: Paperchase Back to School Collection

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

The summer holidays are flying by and you may be panicking about what you have left to buy before the new academic year starts. Whether you are a parent with kids going back to school/university or a teacher preparing to return to work, there will be things you need to buy to make life that little bit easier. Paperchase is my favourite shop, the majority of my desk accessories are from there and they currently have lots of great back to school products for people of all ages. They have sent me a range of items to try out and let you know what I think;

Review: Finding Dory, Disney Store

Sunday, August 21, 2016

Although we have somehow still not seen Finding Dory,  which is on the Summer holiday bucket list, the kids are all caught up in the hype and of course know Dory from the Finding Nemo film, which we have seen about 50 million times. I was growing up when Finding Nemo came out so I do have a huge soft spot for cute little Nemo and the super forgetful Dory and I am probably as excited, if not more, than the kids. If it is anything like Finding Nemo, it will be a well loved movie in our house.

Review: Bob The Builder R/C Super Scoop

Thursday, August 18, 2016

We were sent the Bob The Builder remote controlled R/C Super Scoop from Fisher Price to review.  It has four remote controlled actions, drive forward, turn, Dig and Scoop Stand. The scoop stand is hilarious, it is the digger equivalent to a handstand. Everytime it makes Zach panic and think he has broken it, and his face is a picture. I am so pleased I managed to capture it for our video (below). As well as being able to move around, the R/C Super Scoop talks and plays the Bob the Builder theme tune, which Zach loves to dance along to.

Last month we were sent the AIRSTORM Z-Tek Bow and Firetek Rocket and we were so excited to use them. On of our favourite things to do on a sunny day is head to the park or our local field with some fun outdoor toys.

I was personally excited to try out the Z-Tek Bow, I would love to have a go at real archery one day! Both toys are aimed at children 8+ so they were both used with adult supervision and the kids did awesome considering as they were quite difficult for them to use.

Review: Peppa Pig Enchanted Castle

Friday, August 12, 2016

Peppa Pig has been a popular figure in my house since 2011. Gracie loved Peppa as soon as she could understand what was on the television and I even have a cute video I found recently of Gracie at around 20 months singing her own version of the theme song (cutest video ever). Now Elsie is almost 2 and is probably Peppa's biggest fan, she has even mimicked the temper tantrums like her idol (not so cute). So basically I have a house full of little Peppa fans and so all three of them were happy to be sent the Peppa Pig Enchanted Castle Playset to review.

Back To School: Smiggle Stationery Review

Thursday, August 11, 2016

Every shop you go in, there are aisles packed with back to school essentials including stationery. Which brings me to Gracie's favourite stationery store, Smiggle. I first found Smiggle when invited to the opening of their Birmingham Bullring store and stocked up on lots of great stocking fillers for the kids. Since then whenever we travel to the Bullring, we have to go and have a look inside. Just a few weeks ago, they opened up a store in Coventry and so we have a great excuse to visit more often and just in time to stock up the school supplies!

Introducing Flynn! Our RSPCA Rescue Kitten

Tuesday, August 09, 2016

At the weekend we picked up the latest member of our family, Flynn. He is around 13/14 weeks old and we adopted him through the RSPCA. Flynn had been found abandoned in a shed at around 5 weeks old and a couple of weeks ago his little face popped up on my Facebook newsfeed. He just had the cutest fluffy face and his name was one of my top name choices when pregnant with Zach. So it seemed like life was just telling me to look at him. After the second and third pictures days later also popping up I spoke to Andy and he could see that I really wanted to go see him.

Family Days Out

Summer at Hatton Adventure World

Friday, August 05, 2016

On Tuesday, Me, Andy and the kids visited Hatton Adventure World at Hatton Country World. We are big fans of Hatton anyway, but this was our first visit this year and there is so much going on at the moment.

We picked THE worst day of the week to go as it poured down with rain and I wasn't armed with wellies but we had an awesome day and made sure we did as much as we could and ignored the constant showers. The first thing we did was vegetable picking. On entry all of the kids were given a little punnet to fill with peas or beans to take home with them so we decided to do it before the rain ruined the field completely. It was so much fun! The kids really enjoyed searching and picking so it was totally worth being almost ankle deep in the mud!

Review: Snoodie From Mama Designs

Thursday, August 04, 2016

I first discovered Mama Designs back when Zach was a baby. He was such a dribbly baby and after trying a Snoodie with him, I was so impressed. All of a sudden the past few weeks Elsie has been non stop dribbling. I had only recently given away all of the bibs in the house as they hadn't been used in so long, but then she started dribbling out of nowhere and it was so bad she started to get a rash on her neck. Cue major Mummy guilt. Thankfully I found one of Zach's old Snoodie's which I must have missed when having a clear out and so popped that straight on for her to keep the area dry.

A Snoodie is quite different to your average bib, mainly because of the shape. They are shorter than most bibs and sit like a scarf. They are also much thicker as they contain an inner absorbent layer. This means that when they get wet it doesn't soak straight through to the skin. They contain two poppers so the size is adjustable, although the Snoodie fits Elsie on both sizes, she much prefers the looser setting as it feels less restrictive and she tends to play with it more on the tighter setting. One of the brilliant things about Elsie wearing her Snoodie is that it completely protects the neck and underneath her chin and not just her clothing.

They also look super cute! She is always being complimented on them and I have found myself explaining what they actually are to a number of people. I must say they are one of my top recommended items to any new parents. They come in a range of different colours, the grey star is my favourite! They cost £6.95 each or you can buy a triple pack for £15. They are great value for money and even come out of the tumble dryer looking new which is great news for Winter.

You can find the whole Snoodie range at as well as all of the other brilliant products from Mama Designs.
