Review: Spicers Of Hythe Chocolate Feast Hamper

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

A hamper tradition since 1926, Spicers of Hythe - Hampers of Distinction are the luxury hamper specialists to provide the perfect gift

If you are stuck for ideas for the perfect gift this Valentine's Day, why not buy a luxury food hamper? Whether your partner is a cheese lover or a chocolate lover. They have something for all budgets and tastes. You can find their Valentine's Day range here.

We were asked to review a hamper of our choice and as Me and Andy both have a sweet tooth, we decided on the Chocolate Feast Hamper.

Belgian Dark Chocolate Thins 125g

These chocolate thins are a great light snack. Made with intense dark chocolate. I have to say they weren't the most interesting part of the hamper but good none the less.

Monty Bojangles Chocolate Truffles 100g

The Monty Bojangles truffles were such a treat. I like to sneak one at a time while I am doing jobs around the Kitchen. They are incredibly moreish!

Divine Mint Dark Chocolate Bar 100g

Unfortunately Andy doesn't like mint chocolate which meant I had to try this all by myself. Luckily I love mint chocolate and loved having a few small pieces of this chocolate each day a as a naughty treat.

Franks Raspberry & White Chocolate Butter Bites 150g

These were by far the most popular item in the hamper for us. They are great quality buttery biscuits containing small raspberry pieces and tiny white chocolate chunks.

Radfords Chocolate & Caramel Fudge West Country Fudge Bag 113g

I am a huge fan of fudge and everyone knows the West Country is THE place to get the best tasting fudge. The Radfords chocolate & caramel fudge was a well received addition to the hamper and disappeared very quickly!

Sally Williams Dark Chocolate Coated Nougat 50g

This won't surprise you but I loved this. I really like Nougat but very rarely buy it so it was a lovely treat to come across in the hamper.

Simpkins Orange & Lime Chocolate Confectionary 175g

Andy really liked these! They are sweets with a chocolate centre. I wasn't so keen. They were ok but seem a strange combination to me. On the plus side it is something Andy can have to himself which he certainly hasn't complained about. The orange flavour are his favourites.

Overall, the hamper has been a big success for us. We both found new products that we wouldn't ordinarily buy but now love and we got a few of our favourite kind of items thrown in the mix. The contents may vary slightly but any items will be substituted for a similar item of equal or greater value.

The hamper costs £24.43 to buy and is presented in a lovely hamper basket. I definitely think it is great value for money and one of the best quality hampers I have ever received. It would make a great gift for Valentines Day, Mother's Day or even Easter! I find hampers are a fantastic gift for any occasion and Spicers Of Hythe obviously know what they are doing!

The Chocolate Feast Hamper is available to order here.

We were sent the item free of charge for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.
