Peace at last!

Thursday, March 28, 2013

I actually wanted to post this yesterday but had no time to get online. Anyway, yesterday a miracle happened. Whilst watching a Disney film together both babies fell asleep at the same time. I'm very sleep deprived at the minute, not getting much sleep at night thanks to Zach and getting no rest in the day thanks to Gracie so this was a very welcoming sight. Don't they look cute! I even got to sit down for 20 minutes!

Today has been a very exciting day. Me and Zach got to spend some quality time together while Gracie enjoyed some mummy free time with her grandparents. We caught a train to the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham. Zach loved his first ever train journey! He laughed and babbled all the way there as well as waving at every woman who walked past him.

Happy Six Months Little Man

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Today my baby is six months old and what an incredible six months it has been! He couldn't have fit into our family any more perfectly. I couldn't imagine our life without him. There have been lots of ups and downs with him being poorly more often than not but I wouldn't change him for the world and him being poorly so often has definitely strengthened his bond with his big sister who would do anything for him. I was warned by so many people to be careful of Gracie hurting him or getting jealous but she has nothing but love for her baby brother which is lovely to see. Hopefully it'll stay that way as they get older.

I can't believe how quickly they grow up and learn new things and Zach is a very clever baby. If I can even still call him a baby. I just hope the next six months will be easier for him and maybe I'll be lucky enough to get at least one nights sleep before he turns one!

Love you little man HAPPY SIX MONTHS!

Proud Mummy Moment! Little mans first wave!

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

I have so many proud mummy moments from the last two years and now have somewhere to shout about them! Today Zach has learnt how to wave properly. He keeps looking at me and waving and when I wave at him he gets excited and waves back! It's supercute! Obviously he's waved his hands around before but today he is doing it on purpose, such a clever boy. Unfortunately with all the excitement I didn't manage to get a picture of him in the act.

Have your kids done something that's made you especially proud this week?

Review: WOW Toys Cupcake Chloe

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

WOW Toys were launched back in 1997 at the London Toy Fair and have since gone from strength to strength? They are now available in 900 UK retailers and 40 countries around the world.

I came across WOW Toys when Gracie was one and just getting into playing with play sets. The first one she got was Poppy's Pony Ride and it was one of her favourite toys. Since then we have become big fans of WOW Toys and have seen them become hugely more popular in that short space of time. The lovely people at WOW Toys sent Gracie a Cupcake Chloe toy to review. As soon as the postman dropped it off she got excited shouting 'present!'. So we opened it up and she spotted it was a toy for her straight away. I took the toy out of the box straight away being careful not to rip the cardboard behind the toy as it has a picture scene for her to use as a backdrop. Included in the box is Chloe's cupcake shop, a tricycle for Chloe to deliver cakes, two cupcake toys and a Chloe doll. (see picture below)

The first thing Gracie did was place the cardboard backdrop on her table with Chloe's cake shop in front of it before grabbing the cakes and running off to eat them! (not literally I must add). What I love about WOW Toys is how they really help children use their imagination when playing. Gracie has been baking cupcakes with Chloe in her toy kitchen and feeding them to any visitors we have and of course chief cake tester Zach! She's also been using her other WOW toys together to make it even more fun mix and matching the characters and playsets to make her own adventures having hours of fun at the same time. She especially loves Cupcake Chloe as her favourite Auntie is called Chloe so she pretends it's a mini auntie Chloe.

WOW Toys are perfect for young children's developing minds. The perfect present for Christmas and birthdays as they can be played with straight out the box with no worry about forgetting batteries. They are very good quality toys and are very durable, all of ours look as new as the day we first got them which is surprising considering how heavy handed children can be when playing. What's best is each and every toy has it's own personality and story with lots of potential for fun for any child.

You can see the full range of toys at where you will also find a full list of online stockists as well as search for your nearest retailers.

We were sent the Chloe Cupcake toy featured in this post free of charge for review but all views and opinions are my own.

Graco Evo Mini meets snow

Sunday, March 24, 2013

Yesterday we took the Evo Mini out for its first test drive. We braved the ice and snow and ventured into the city centre. As soon as we put Zach in the pushchair he fell asleep, must have been all the excitement! We started off in the shopping centre so I got to have a good feel at how the pushchair handles and wow! I couldn't believe how light it feels to push. Even with my big change bag on the back and Zach in the pushchair it felt like there was no weight to it. It is very easy to manoeuvre one handed if you have a toddlers hand to hold. I even tested the brakes out on a steep ramp from the car park and there was no moving it with the brakes on. My last stroller had awful brakes so was easily pleased by this!

Review: Cow & Gate 100% Fruit Pouches

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

We were recently sent an exclusive tasting box from Cow & Gate to review on behalf of Netmums. Zach has already begun weaning and we are doing a mix of puréed food as well as solids. It's been very hard with him being dairy intolerant having to ingredient check everything before preparing his food and buying overpriced products from the free from aisles. So first of all I have to say how happy I am that Cow & Gate are one of the few companies that actually state on their packaging whether or not their products contain gluten, egg or dairy. Of course being '100% fruit' I wasn't expecting anything but fruit in them but was still pleasantly surprised at the clear markings saying so.

I'm always on the lookout for new foods for Zach to try. The only fruits I can get him to try when preparing myself are strawberries and blueberries so was glad to see the large choice of flavours in the fruit pouches so I could get him to try them all. I've given him the vegetable based pouches before which he loved so recognised the pouch as being food and was very excited to try it. In fact he ate it straight from the pouch without making any mess! There was none wasted he seemed to really enjoy it. We've already gone through all six of the flavours in the tasting box and all six proved to be very enjoyable. As a mum it makes me happy knowing that I am giving my baby a naturally made baby food. There are no unnatural ingredients in the Cow & Gate pouches and all the fruits are grown away from contaminants as the ingredients are grown especially for use in baby food. Also one pouch contains '1 portion of fruit for a 1yr old' and 1/3 of a small child's daily vitamin C requirement. The sugar content is fairly high but they are all naturally occurring sugars and I'd rather he get his sugars from fruit than any sweets/biscuit products.

The six new flavours are:
- apple, strawberry & banana
- apple
- apple & banana
- fruit mix
- pear
- apple & pear

The Cow & Gate pouches are perfect for weaning or as a snack for older babies. They are great for days out to stick in the change bag for your baby to eat on the go. I will definitely be buying more for Zach as they have proved so popular and would definitely recommend it as a weaning must-have! You can read more about the pouches on the Netmums site Here

My Blog Word Cloud

Monday, March 11, 2013

After seeing the fab word cloud over on Emmy's Mummy's blog, I decided to have a play around and make my own.

It was very easy to do and looks great!

What I love about my cloud is that Gracie and Zach stand out. The cloud really shows what I like to talk about with most of it being baby and family related.

If you'd like to create your own then pop over to her blog here to find out how.

Teething Troubles

Monday, March 11, 2013

Wow it's amazing how quick teething can strike! One minute you have a happy baby and the next you have a screaming dribbling monster chewing on anything they can get their hands on! I certainly haven't been looking forward to going through it all again. Although Gracie was pretty good at the whole teething thing, the first few months weren't pleasant. I hadn't found anything that helped until she was about 5 months old when I discovered teething granules and Teething Bling. After that all of her teeth came through without as much as a moan! Now what are the chances I'll be lucky enough to have it that easy twice?

Sibling Love

Mothers Day 2013

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Have spent a lovely day with my chunks today! My first Mother's Day as a mummy of two! Gracie made me a lovely card with some drawings inside which I loved. It was my first homemade card so was very special. Then our day involved lots of cuddles, making Easter themed cakes and a visit to Nanna's house. Here are a few pictures from our special day! And we hope you have all had a lovely day too!

MAM UK Feeding Bowl

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

As you all know we have recently started weaning Zach. We've been doing it by slowly introducing new foods like puréed fruits and vegetables and dairy free baby porridge. Just as I was planning how to wean him the lovely people at MAM UK offered me a feeding bowl from there new feeding range to review. I was very excited as we love MAM products both kids use their bottles and soothers as well as a number of their teethers and other accessories so I know that their products are great quality and already a favourite in our family.

The bowl comes with a tight fitting lid perfect for storing food safely especially when travelling. The bowl consists of two separate compartments making it ideal for storing and offering different foods and again great for travelling as you can separate dinner and dessert into the different compartments to save space. MAM have designed the bowl so that it has an easy to hold handle for parents or children to hold with just one hand.

To be honest I have struggled with this review on trying to really use the bowl for the intended use. In theory the bowl sounds amazing and very practical for the older baby. I'm sure we will use it more as Zach gets older and has more of an appetite. My problems being with the fact we are still weaning we have found we haven't had any need for two compartments with him, though Gracie loves to steal it to store her fruit in and separate her fruit into the different sides, which helps me see it's potential. Also we don't really go out for long enough to take meals out with us, if we are popping out I tend to shove a fruit pouch in the change bag incase he gets hungry. I do think that it will be perfect for the car journeys on days out when the weather gets better. The bowl is the perfect size to fit in a cool bag and I actually tested out the spill factor by putting some puree in the bowl, adding the lid and storing it sideways in the fridge. After a few hours there was no sign of any spills, and there is nothing worse than discovering baby food leaking all over your change bag or over everyone's food in your cool bag. The handle on the bowl is great, it's easy to hold with one hand and avoid it tipping when leaning over to feed the baby. Even Gracie can carry the bowl one handed without leaving a trail of grapes across my living room floor when she's not watching what she's doing! The brightness of the colour is Zach's favourite thing about the bowl, the second he see's it he knows it's food time and I love to see his big smile spread across his face.

I have to say I dont actually have any negative points about the bowl, just that maybe it is more suited to an older baby than a young baby. It is definitely our favourite bowl of Zach's thanks to it's carry handle and the fact that if I need to I can cover and refridgerate his food safely. Also once again MAM have made another product that is attractive to the eye. Children love bold colours and they never disappoint. I think that may be why my babies love all their MAM stuff!

I was sent this product free of charge for review but all views and opinions are my own.

A little ray of sunshine

Saturday, March 02, 2013

Anyone out there will understand the day you wake up and open up the curtains to find the sun shining outside is a very happy day. Everything always seems brighter with sunshine.

I had an awful nights sleep last night, a nasty tummy bug has hit the house and last night was my turn to be sick so I was dreading getting up this morning to do the usual housework and run around after the kids all day. Luckily today was one of those days. I woke up and opened the curtains to...Sunshine! All of a sudden I got overly excited about being able to hang my washing outside! Us mums are quite easily pleased!

As my day had got off to a good start I felt motivated to get some housework done, get the kids ready and spend a few hours at the park. The park is Gracie's favourite place at the moment. She loves the slides and the swings and feeding the ducks. Today she even made Daddy's day by playing football, well kicking the ball and picking it up and running away as soon as Daddy tried to touch it. Then we treated Gracie to her first ice cream which was very messy.

After all the fun and fresh air i've been feeling great again this afternoon. It's amazing what a little ray of sunshine can do.

Happy weekend everyone!
